Commissions 2016 by Changinghand

If you're interested in a commission, feel free to send me a note or e-mail me at:

*Terms of Service:

Prospective clients must read and understand these guidelines before commissioning me for work.

• I will not draw gratuitous violence, gore, hateful (i.e. homophobic, racist, misogynistic), or pornographic imagery.

• I have the right to refuse a commission request.

• I have the right to issue a partial refund/cancel a commission due to poor communication, late payments or unreasonable demands.

• I retain distribution rights to the commissioned artwork (i.e. create prints, merchandise, etc.) unless otherwise stated.

• If you want a commercial illustration, please notify me as this will change pricing and handling of artwork.

• Unless a commercial request, the Client may not re-distribute, reproduce for sale, or profit off of artwork.

• The Client will not redistribute or post the full-size original image onto message boards, forums, etc. I will provide a web-ready image available for sharing. The original image is strictly meant for use between Client and Artist.

• Revisions are limited, so Clients may be charged extra if continuous revisions are requested.

• Pricing will be done at a fixed hourly rate of $25 USD per hour.

• Daily hours of operation are 6 hours a day ($150 USD day rate); hours may run under or over depending on project complexity.

• Default canvas size and work space will be 8x10" (2550x3300 pixel resolution).

• Smaller or larger canvas sizes are available upon request.

*Why The Change to Hourly?

My previous pricing method was too convoluted and would often end with me being underpaid. I also felt that customers weren't getting work that was big enough, and therefore losing out on quality/details. I'd like to provide my followers and potential clients with my best work possible, but not at the expense of my own well-being. With this new system, payment will be simpler to calculate and you'll get better art!

*So How Does This Work?

First you send me your ideas! We'll look at what it is you're shooting for and then figure out a canvas size. As mentioned above, my work days are generally six hours. However, that doesn't necessarily mean your request will take exactly six hours to complete. If a piece is less complex and on a smaller canvas, it's possible that work will be done faster. And if a piece is more complex and on a larger canvas, six or more hours may be needed for project completion. Whatever your choice, artwork will include the same quality as anything else in my portfolio.

*I Have A Budget/I'm Unsure Of the Cost:

For those who are working with a budget, hours of work will be proportional to your budget. For example $90 will be 3.6 hours of work (3.6 x $25 = $90). Work hours will not go beyond budget hours unless payment is readjusted. For those who are unsure of the cost, don't hesitate to send me an email where I can help you establish an estimate.

*Can I Pay In Installments?

Absolutely, you have your own bills to pay and you're not made of money! Let's say you have a really big idea for a character illustration with lots of details, but your budget only allows me to do 75% of what you're asking for. I can put the project on hold until you gather more funds for me to finish that last 25%. Artwork shouldn't be rushed and quality sacrificed just to meet a strict timeline. So don't be afraid to ask about multi-payments and working on an extended project!

*So What Can I Request?

Pretty much anything, so long as it fits within the above mentioned guidelines. Simple portraits with no background or sweeping landscape. Full-body shot with a single character or multiple character piece. Whatever combination, I'm open to any request!

*Payment method:

• Payments are done through Paypal using U.S dollar currency.

• Payments are done in two installations. Half payment after review of the final rough, and remaining payment after reviewing finalized image. Once the final payment has been received, the Client will then receive the full size image and any related files.

Now that's out of the way, I hope you find interest in my work and choose to work with me in the future. I personally guarantee high-quality work and a professional piece we'd both be happy to show off.

*Client Testimonials
"Matt Lara is, without doubt and exaggeration, the best artist I've had the pleasure of dealing with to date. He is service-minded and efficient; he genuinely cares about living up to the customer's expectations without sacrificing quality, works surprisingly fast and frequently sends progress updates. He made me feel included in the process of creation, and delivers a unique and beautiful product to boot. I cannot recommend this artist enough." -Katerina Lightfoot Commission

"There are not enough kind things I could say about working with Changinghand. Not only is he quick with responding to messages and the art itself but his attention to detail is truly remarkable, he can portray the mood of the piece perfectly. He is as passionate as you will be to bring your product to life, takes into consideration your opinions and will strive to bring together your vision. A man of his quality is worth every penny because you will not be disappointed. I can easily say I will continue to follow his work from here on out!" -James Hart Commission

"Changing hand is quick, easy to work worth, and pays close attention to detail. His work is of high quality and he even has a DD to prove it. " - EKKnight Commission

"We hired Matt Lara on commission to design the felt for a custom craps table we were building. He came up with the initial concept based upon "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". The idea was brilliant and the finished product was absolutely amazing. Matt put an extreme amount of detail into his design. Everything from the artwork to the actual lines and betting area were flawless. We couldn't be happier with the end result. Matt is a very creative, talented, and professional artist and it was a pleasure working with him." -Klaas Remodelers Construction Commission
