Three Kingdoms - 8 by Changinghand
Three Kingdoms - 8

Open for commissions!

Just got back to work on the Three Kingdom cards, so here's a few of my favorites from the last batch. From left to right:
Ma Teng, Sun Quan, Jiang Qin, Xiahou Ba, Sima Yi, Cao Ang, Xu Chu and Hao Zhao.

Ma Teng:  Ma Teng was the warlord of Liang province and a loyal general to the fading Han Dynasty. He was also father to the famous Shu general Ma Chao who would later fight to avenge Ma Teng’s death at the hands of Cao Cao.

Sun Quan: youngest son to the warlord Sun Jian. The Sun clan were descendants of the famous military tactician Sun Tzu. After the death of Sun Jian and his older brother Sun Ce, Quan rose to power and established the state of Sun-Wu in Eastern China.

Jiang Qin: a military general serving under the warlord Sun Quan. He previously served under Sun Ce until Ce’s untimely death. Qin then went on to serve under Quan and assisted the Wu kingdom in its military campaign.

Xiahou Ba: a general serving in the kingdom of Cao Wei. He was a member of the Xiahou family, a significant military family at the time, and was second son to the general Xiahou Yuan. He later defected to the rival state of Shu-Han due to political instability.

Sima Yi: a prominent general and politician for the state of Cao-Wei. He was the rival to the famed strategist Zhuge Liang whom he successfully defended Wei against during his northern assaults. Yi’s political position helped his son Sima Yan settle into power and allowed him to eventually establish the Jin Dynasty, effectively ending the Three Kingdoms era.

Cao Ang:  oldest son to the warlord Cao Cao. He rose to power at the end of the Han Dynasty and eventually established the state of Cao-Wei during the Three Kingdoms era.

Xu Chu: nicknamed the “Tiger Fool”, was a powerful bodyguard to the warlord Cao Cao. He was said to have the strength to pull a bull back with his bare hands.

Hao Zhao: was a talented general that served the state of Cao Wei. His most notable exploit was at the Battle of Chenchang where he successfully defended a Wei stronghold against a significantly larger siege force led by Zhuge Liang.

FINISHED ILLUSTRATION: changinghand.deviantart.com/ar…

Trying out something new here. I normally keep a record of thumbnails for most of my work just to see how things moved when I finished. I often share these slides normally on tumblr or facebook for those who are interested. So since I have access to flash on this site, I think it's interesting to see how the slides line up when turned into a fluid animation. That being said, I guess here's some insight into my work progress for those who are curious. I'll most likely be doing more of these in the future.

Shameless self-promotion since my page is getting a lot of views today. I'm currently open for commissions!
