FINAL ILLUSTRATION

Been jumping around a lot lately with how I work. Originally I worked from greyscale and then recently moved on to painting from a palette. I started focusing more on structure and atmosphere than before. Now it looks like I've gone back to greyscale while still emphasizing things like structure, color and mood. The main difference now is that I'm maintaining more of the original sketch's qualities and also getting some nice subtle colors too. 

Anyways, here's just a breakdown of my process which you can see in the animation above: 

-quick sketch to figure out posing and composition 
-loose anatomical sketch to establish form (and for practice) 
-clothing buildup on top of the figure, followed by more refining 
-general values are added to determine form, shape and lighting 
-first color layer added to establish a general mood
-more colors added and separated until finish
