Commissions 2017 by Changinghand

If you're interested in a commission, feel free to send me a note or e-mail me at:

*Terms of Service:

Prospective clients must read and understand these guidelines before commissioning me for work.

• I won't draw gratuitous violence, gore, hateful (i.e. homophobic, racist, misogynistic), or pornographic imagery.

• I have the right to refuse a commission request.

• I have the right to issue a partial refund/cancel a commission due to poor communication, late payments or unreasonable demands.

• I retain distribution rights to the commissioned artwork (i.e. create prints, merchandise, etc.) unless otherwise stated.

• Commercial illustrations may change the pricing and handling of artwork.

• Unless a commercial request, the Client may not re-distribute, reproduce, or profit off of artwork.

• Pricing will be done at a fixed hourly rate of $25 USD per hour.

• Standard canvas size and work space will be 8x10" (2550x3300 resolution) at 300 DPI.

• Smaller or larger canvas sizes are available upon request.

*Why Hourly?

The hourly rate is a more accurate way to work and keeps me from both overcharging clients and underpaying myself. You'll also get higher quality art as it allows me to work on a larger space, and keeps me from working very small to keep the cost down. A larger canvas of 8.5x11" allows for much more details and quality than that of a 2x3" size. I want to give you the best work possible so that you can enjoy my art both on your computer or on print.

*So How Does This Work?

Just send me your ideas! We'll discuss what it is that you want; subject, details, sizing, etc. Once we both agree and are happy, I'll then work towards completing your image in a timely manner and give you a final price based on the hours used to complete. Completion time for a piece depends entirely on how complex and detailed the subject matter is, as well as the canvas size.

*I Have A Budget/I'm Unsure Of the Cost:

No problem, and don't hesitate to ask me even if you have a budget! I understand that most people are operating on a budget and don't have a studio's ransom to pay. Just let me know what your budget is and I will do my best to work with you and figure out something we're both happy with in terms of timeline and size.

Please also refer to the commissions page above for examples of my work. Each is labeled with detail amount, size, and price. You can use these samples as a metric of where your piece may fall in terms if pricing. Note: Prices may vary from sample images depending on complexity.

*Can I Pay In Installments?

Absolutely. Let's say you have a big idea for an 8.5x11" illustration that costs $160, but your budget at the moment is only $80. You do have the option of reducing the size and detail to fit within that budget. However, I have no problem keeping the project at it's standard 8.5x11" size, working within the $80 budge, and saving the rest until the remaining funds are gathered. This way you're not backed into turning your large print into something the size of a playing card.

*So What Can I Request?

Pretty much anything, so long as it fits within the above mentioned guidelines. Simple portraits with or without a background, full-body shot with a single character or multiple characters. Whatever combination, I'm open to any request!

*Payment method:

• Payments are done through Paypal using U.S dollar currency.

• Payments are done in two steps. Half payment after review of the final rough, and remaining payment after reviewing finalized image. Once the final payment has been received, the Client will then receive the full size image and any related files.

Now that's out of the way, I hope you find interest in my work and choose to work with me in the future. I personally guarantee high-quality work and a professional piece we'd both be happy to show off.

*Client Testimonials
"Matt Lara is, without doubt and exaggeration, the best artist I've had the pleasure of dealing with to date. He is service-minded and efficient; he genuinely cares about living up to the customer's expectations without sacrificing quality, works surprisingly fast and frequently sends progress updates. He made me feel included in the process of creation, and delivers a unique and beautiful product to boot. I cannot recommend this artist enough." -Katerina Lightfoot Commission

"There are not enough kind things I could say about working with Changinghand. Not only is he quick with responding to messages and the art itself but his attention to detail is truly remarkable, he can portray the mood of the piece perfectly. He is as passionate as you will be to bring your product to life, takes into consideration your opinions and will strive to bring together your vision. A man of his quality is worth every penny because you will not be disappointed. I can easily say I will continue to follow his work from here on out!" -James Hart Commission

"Changing hand is quick, easy to work worth, and pays close attention to detail. His work is of high quality and he even has a DD to prove it. " - EKKnight Commission

"We hired Matt Lara on commission to design the felt for a custom craps table we were building. He came up with the initial concept based upon "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". The idea was brilliant and the finished product was absolutely amazing. Matt put an extreme amount of detail into his design. Everything from the artwork to the actual lines and betting area were flawless. We couldn't be happier with the end result. Matt is a very creative, talented, and professional artist and it was a pleasure working with him." -Klaas Remodelers Construction Commission
