Playing around with another personal project. I really like plants, drawing them and learning about them. I’ve been thinking about more interesting ways than the usual wall-of-text and photo posts to get people interested in them. Instead, I’m going to try something like a creature-dex, complete with weird plant based characters and growing information. Maybe I’ll compile them into a zine one day?
The first set of plants I’ll be working on will be some of my favorite California natives. So here is a teaser with Cleveland Sage (Salvia Clevelandii), a hardy perennial shrub that is drought tolerant and semi-evergreen. Their smell carries far on a hot day as their leaves are very aromatic. They’re usually accompanied by bees, hummingbirds and other pollinators for their profuse blooms. Their flowers give them a dainty look, but these plants grow big and fast up to 6-8′ tall and 3-5′ wide.
